Our Story

Born in Zaragoza.
Built on EU Standards.

Bespirit was founded in 1984 by a family of Aragonese craftspeople who believed that contract-quality upholstered furniture did not have to mean industrial compromise. Their bet — that hospitality clients would pay a premium for furniture that was genuinely better made — proved correct.

From a single workshop of eight people, the company grew through the Spanish hospitality boom of the 1990s, the international expansion of European hotel groups in the 2000s, and the luxury resurgence of the 2010s. Each decade brought new clients, new markets, and new technical challenges — all resolved through the same approach: hire the best craftspeople, build the best frames, never cut a corner on the garnissage.

Today, Bespirit employs 25+ craftspeople across 5,000m² of production space in Zaragoza's Polígono Malpica industrial district — a facility that has grown with the company but retained the culture of a craft workshop. Every piece that leaves our floor is signed off by a senior upholsterer before packaging.

The Zaragoza Legacy

A city built on craft.

Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon, has been a manufacturing city since the Industrial Revolution. Positioned at the geographic heart of the Iberian Peninsula — equidistant from Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, and the French border — it developed as a natural hub for the movement of goods across Spain and into Europe.

The furniture and upholstery industry in Aragon developed in earnest in the post-war period, as Spain's economic expansion drew skilled rural craftspeople into the city. By the 1970s, a cluster of specialized furniture manufacturers had established itself in Zaragoza's industrial zones — frame-makers, foam converters, fabric suppliers, and upholsterers — creating the complete supply-chain ecosystem that supports quality production today.

This ecosystem is Bespirit's competitive advantage. Within 50 kilometres of our workshop, we source kiln-dried beech from Pyrenean suppliers, HR foam from Iberian converters, and finishing hardware from Aragonese metalworkers. Proximity means quality control — we visit our key suppliers regularly, and our suppliers visit us.

"Zaragoza's furniture tradition is not accidental. It is the product of three generations of craftspeople, each one teaching the next that there is no shortcut to quality."

Made in Europe

The case for
European production.

The case for European manufacturing in hospitality procurement has never been stronger. A decade of supply-chain disruption, tightening sustainability requirements, and rising quality expectations has made the calculus clear for hotel groups and restaurateurs who have done the analysis.

Quality Standards That Are Legally Enforced

European factories operate under EU regulations — REACH compliance, CE marking, and fire-safety standards (EN 1021-1 & EN 1021-2 for upholstered furniture) are legally required, not self-declared. When we issue a fire certificate, it carries the weight of EU law behind it. The same cannot be said for declarations of conformity issued in non-EU jurisdictions.

6–10 Weeks vs 20–28 Weeks

A hospitality project with Bespirit runs from confirmed order to delivery in 6–10 weeks for standard models, 10–14 weeks for bespoke. The equivalent from a Far East manufacturer — including ocean freight, port clearance, customs, and inland transport — rarely arrives in under 20 weeks, and that assumes no disruption. A single port delay can derail an entire hotel opening schedule.

No Language Barrier, No Time Zone Gap

Working within the same or adjacent time zones — and often in the same languages (French, English, Spanish, Italian) — means that technical questions are resolved in hours, not days. A single video call with our production team can clarify a dimension, approve a sample, or resolve a specification ambiguity in minutes. Misunderstandings caught before production begins cost nothing. Misunderstandings discovered at delivery cost everything.

Fully Traceable, Sustainably Sourced

We know where every material comes from. Our beech is FSC-certified from Pyrenean forests. Our foam is converted in the Iberian Peninsula. Our primary fabrics come from Flanders, Portugal, and Italy. This traceability is increasingly required by hotel groups' procurement and sustainability policies — and it is something we can document completely, at any stage of production.

After-Sales Within EU Legal Framework

When a piece needs attention three years after delivery, our team is reachable, our spare parts are available, and EU consumer and contract law provides clear recourse. We have been servicing hospitality clients since 1984 and we are still there growing every year and serving more clients.
